The ArbolTrebol is a monster appearing in ObsCure and ObsCure II. They are created due to the mutagenic properties found in the Mortifilia. It is the third and possibly last step of evolution of the most common infection of the Mortifilia.
The ArbolTrebol is one of the most difficult monsters of the ObsCure saga.
Biology
It represents the latest evolutionary stage of the most common mutation created by Herbert Friedman with the Mortifilia.
This monster is in fact a Evolved Infected exposed to light sources and when the spores of the Mortifilia form a strong bond with the infected person, a grotesque transformation begins.
The monster becomes taller and robust, the body forms to what appears to be melanomas plants. Its skin seems to be long gone, as one can see that its head is likely to be its skull with no eyes and one can see its pelvis and its spine at the back.
Their whole body is only composed of muscles and tendons covering the bones, which seem to have swelled. Their feet are only bones and are disproportionately large, with the toe bones being several inches long and sharp. The torso is not entirely visible as it is blocked by its absurdly large low-hanging mouth flaps. The mid-torso is of somewhat average size, but as it goes up, it becomes large. The arms, like the legs, are bloody muscles ending with big claw-like hands. Their arms are always extended outward, with their hands hanging down. The bud in the mouth of the Evolved Infected becomes powerful jaw. Thus, the last signs of their humanity vanishes completely.
In ObsCure II, the ArbolTrebol's appearance changes but they are still quite a threat, though when compared to their first generation predecessors, they seem to be a little less dangerous. This ArbolTrebol was a normal person infected with the 2nd Generation of the Mortifilia and has developed a new layer of skin, covering its "mouth" and it now has a hump on its back. The Arboltrebol's fingers are not entirely separated and it has a face, unlike the first generation which has a skull-like one. The 2nd generation ArbolTrebol also has eyes but they are completely white.
Combat
Due to its imposing size and its enormous strength, the ArbolTrebol moves slowly and is covered by a thick layer of black spores. It roars and attacks by striking with its mighty limbs from above, pulling down their enemies. The damage inflicted by the creature is very high and they are able to kill characters with a few hits.
It attacks from the front and moves slowly to shatter the enemy. If they can inflict enough damage to their prey they will end up impaling and lifting them and devouring their heads.
It has 3 attacks:
- A powerful blow with its right hand that knocks down the player
- 2 strikes with its large claws
- And its finishing move where it impales its victim and devours its head.
Tactics
Only heavy weapons are effective against the ArbolTrebol. If met alone, it will be impossible to face head to head without damage (unless you use a Light Grenade). The best way to deal with the ArbolTrebol is to take advantage of their sluggishness and keep your distance to shoot them and stay clear of their attack radius.

Trivia
- In the first appearance of this creature, in ObsCure, you can see lightning, which is impossible since the scene is set in a basement with no windows.
- There was a beta version of this creature, which is cataloged as "Big Tree".
- It is only hinted that this is the last evolution of the normal infection, but never confirmed. There could be another evolution never show in any game.
